This post is a response by a doctor to a question one of our community members asked.
Age 30 Female. MPV-12.0 Lymphocytes-41 having decrease appetite and rush and weakness. What could it be?
Dr Edin’s reply:
MPV (mean platelet volume) is the average size of platelets. It’s normal range is 9.4-12.3 fL. Your MPV is 12.0 so it is within a normal range.
Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cells (leukocytes). Their main role in the organism is an immune response to an infection. They are created in bone marrow from there they move to lymphatic organs (lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen). In case of infection, they move into the bloodstream.
Normal range of lymphocytes is 1.0–3.0×109/l.
Elevated lymphocyte levels are usually caused by a viral infection (mononucleosis, influenza, hepatitis, measles, mumps, etc.). Another cause can be autoimmune diseases, acute lymphocytic leukemia or chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Your symptoms are common so it would be best to visit your doctor for an examination and further diagnostics.
